HOLLYWOOD, FL-CORFAC International has inked a strategic alliance with Irvine, CA-based The RSH Group. The deal gives the non-profit association of commercial real estate firms access to financial and tax advisory services specific that aim to improve fiscal performance on existing facilities, expansions, consolidations, dispositions, and relocations.

Founded by Jim Renzas, former practice leader of the Incentives & Credits Practice at Arthur Andersen and KPMG, and John Schuetz, former corporate general manager and vice president of marketing for Ford Motor Company, Kia and Daewoo Motors, The RHS Group brings 30-plus years of experience to CORFAC clients.

“Our alliance with RSH will help make good decisions better,” Owen Rouse, Jr., 2010
CORFAC International president, tells GlobeSt.com. “When we are talking to a client and you reach the edge of your knowledge, RHS can help us fill the information gap. RHS has radar that’s tuned different than ours, and that will help our clients.”

One area Rouse is betting RSH can help CORFAC clients is through site selection and incentive negotiations. RSH accesses financial incentives by negotiating with government and utility agencies. Incentives can provide substantial capital—from $10,000’s to $10,000,000’s—through tax credits and abatements, fee waivers, relocation reimbursements, hiring credits, and energy savings.

“If you are doing multi-state transactions, or if you are going into a new state where you have never operated, it’s very difficult to understand the nuances in that jurisdiction,” says Rouse, who is also a senior vice president and director of capital markets at Manekin, a commercial real estate services firm in Columbia, MD. “RSH cuts through that pretty quickly because the have strong site selection experience.”

RSH Group will also offer compliance management, entitlement processing, and cost segregation services to CORFAC clients. RSH consultants have extensive real estate development proficiency in navigating the regulatory review and approval process.

Marc Berg, senior vice president of The RSH Group, tells GlobeSt.com the market
reach of CORFAC firms, reputation and industry status will generate new opportunities for his firm’s consultants. And RSH brings industry-leading consultants to CORFAC. Development Counselors International named Renzas one of America’s “Top Location Advisors” in July.

“When companies are looking to generate economic benefit to a community or a region, we can help those companies attain start-up funds through incentives,” Berg says. “The CORFAC brokers have those relationships with clients who are expanding or relocating. So this alliance gives us access to clients we might not meet and gives those clients access to funds of which they may not otherwise be aware.”
