SCOTTSDALE, AZ-Thompson National Properties LLC has partnered with SAXA Inc. to form Thompson Southwest Ventures.

The new real estate consulting firm combines TNP’s national platform with SAXA’s regional expertise. It will focus on financial advisory services including receiverships, asset and property management, loan restructuring and acquisitions and dispositions in Arizona and Nevada.
“Our strategy is the same in all markets and that is to have qualified experienced strategic partners to take advantage of whatever the market can give us – that may be fee income, it might mean acquisitions or helping us identify investors who might need our help,” says Tony Thompson, TNP’s chairman and CEO.

Thompson tells GlobeSt.com that TNP has never had a strategic partner in the Phoenix area, but that it has been buying and selling properties there for the past decade or longer. “We like the Phoenix area, and we wanted to take a more strategic position there,” he explains, adding that the firm spent 18 months considering a number of companies and professionals as partners.

“We selected [Jim Riggs] and his firm because of their experience and extensive track record developing and marketing commercial properties in Arizona and Nevada," Thompson says. "In the past three years, Jim and his firm have successfully negotiated the disposition and restructuring of 45 commercial loans in excess of $250 million."

In total, Irvine, CA-based TNP manages a portfolio of 136 commercial properties totaling more than 19.6 million square feet. With a presence in 30 states, the firm works with more than 4,000 investor/owners with an overall purchase value of $2.4 billion dollars.
