LOS ANGELES-The Reznick Group, a national CPA and business advisory firm, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, has appointed locally-based Scott Farb as the chairman of the firm’s national commercial real estate practice. Farb’s appointment signals the firm’s plans to expand its local, regional and national focus on its commercial real estate practice.

“We are clearly building on the niche institutional real estate practice Scott has successfully developed since opening our Southern California office four years ago,” says Ken Baggett, Reznick Group’s CEO and managing principal. “In his new capacity as chair of our national commercial real estate committee, Scott will be tasked with exporting his broad-based knowledge and technical expertise on a firm-wide basis.” Baggett adds that the firm strongly believes in the strength of commercial real estate “as a viable and dynamic asset class going forward, and hope to capitalize on the many opportunities ahead.”

Farb started the Los Angeles office of Reznick Group four years ago and has served since then as the office managing principal. With more than 30 years of experience in the real estate accounting industry, Farb has extensive experience with public and private real estate companies along with specific expertise in working with private equity funds, pension funds investing in real estate, commercial and residential property owners and operators, hotels and resorts, real estate developers, homebuilders and land developers. Prior to joining Reznick Group, Farb served for over 20 years as a senior partner at Kenneth Leventhal & Co., continuing in that capacity after the firm’s merger with Ernst & Young.

“In spite of the myriad challenges facing real estate owners, operators, developers and investors in our current economic environment, I’m excited about the prospects for the commercial real estate markets over the next several years,” Farb says. “Given the amount of pent-up capital and sheer number of transactions that will inevitably occur, I am confident that we have successfully positioned ourselves to proactively serve our clients.”
