CARLSBAD, CA-Shapell Homes of Beverly Hills has acquired the 200-acre western portion of the Robertson Ranch master-planned project, a move that marks Shapell’s return to the San Diego market. The property is one of the last approved master-planned development opportunities remaining in north San Diego County.

Located off El Camino Real and Cannon Road, the future community has city master plan approval for approximately 680 single-family and multifamily residences, along with a neighborhood-serving retail center. Approximately half of the property has been set aside for open space and recreation.

According to Shapell Homes CEO Matt Koart, Shapell bought the 200 acres from long-standing Carlsbad landowner the Robertson family. The property represents the remaining balance of the community. The original master plan approval was secured in 2006 and the eastern portion of the property is currently under development.

Erik Pfahler, vice president of planning and acquisitions at Shapell Home, noted that the acquisition of the 200 acres “represents Shapell’s return to the San Diego marketplace.” Shapell has active Southern California communities in areas such as Laguna Niguel, Yorba Linda, Porter Ranch, the Santa Clarita Valley and Thousand Oaks.
