Digital Dust
Google founder Larry Page just returned as CEO to drive "development," and Google's go-forward strategy is focused on creating applications for smart phones and other mobile devices. Why? Because Google is playing catch-up with Apple on the app front; 100,000 apps for Google versus 350,000 for Apple. Okay, so why is this relevant for Executive Watch? Because real estate is in the digital dust when it comes to applying technology to the business, no less how to integrate cutting-edge applications and other digital resources. Tomorrow's execs recognize that digital marketing, digitizing corporate communications (internal and external), and charting new digital courses for running the business, must be core to the game plan. So, Mr. CEO, having an iPad doesn't make a difference, but conceptualizing, applying and integrating the emerging technology into your business does.
