PARIS-The French government and the Paris Ile-de-France region have reached agreement on the shape of new transport networks to be built as part of the Grand Paris urban renewal project, notably on the 150 kilometer driverless metro system linking the key suburbs and airports.

The outline for the new metro network, dubbed Grand Paris Express, combines core elements of two competing plans - the government's more ambitious figure-eight network involving the creation of 42 new stations and the regional authority's more modest Arc Express project aimed at improving links between suburbs.
