NEW YORK CITY-GlobeSt.com has learned that Cushman & Wakefield Inc. has been appointed the exclusive leasing agent for 260 and 261 Madison Ave. The two buildings total approximately one million square feet.

The leasing assignments were previously handled by CB Richard Ellis. Bruce Mosler, chairman of global brokerage at Cushman & Wakefield, tells me that C&W has won a large volume of large agency business, including a national portfolio for Cohen Brothers, 1290 of the Americas for Vornado and 681 Fifth Ave., among others. I spoke with Mosler while he was in attendance at RealShare Real Estate 2011, where he told me that “this is indicative that landlords are seeing activity rise.”

New York City-based Sapir Organization is owner of the two buildings; 260 Madison Ave. is a 552,317-square-foot office tower located between Midtown and Midtown South on Madison Ave. The 22-story office building is just a few blocks away from Grand Central. The 28-story 261 Madison Ave. is a 385,046-square-foot office tower.

C&W has been getting leasing assignments left and right across the county. For example, as GlobeSt.com also reported today, the firm just signed on as leasing agent for the 400,000-square-foot Red Building that is currently under construction in West Hollywood, CA at the Pacific Design Center.

GlobeSt.com will update this story as we learn more.
