Lake Anna

Lake Anna Approximately 15 years ago my family visited friends who owned a wonderful home on Lake Anna in Virginia, an easy drive from DC. It was gorgeous and idyllic with rolling hills and pine forests circling the shoreline; a developers dream. As we began our cruise around the lake, my friend suggested that we tour along the cold side of the lake; it would be more “comfortable.” Dumb me, asked: “Why is one side cold.?” Well it was my introduction to a nuclear lake. I was reminded about that weekend as I watched in horror the unfolding drama in Japan. Excuse me, but should nuclear power plants (a bunch of them) be located on the “ring of fire?” If there were ever a wake-up call we just got it. Wind and solar energy are clean and safe, and where the game needs to be played. By the way, the fish we caught on the “hot” side of the lake were very tender.
