PORTLAND, OR-CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. has appointed Michael Wells as managing director and market leader for CBRE’s business lines in Portland. Wells, a long-time Portland resident and business leader, brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate.

Most recently, Wells was a principal with CresaPartners in Portland, where he represented tenants and owner-users of warehouse and manufacturing buildings both in the local market and throughout the Northwest. Prior to that position, he worked in commercial real estate development for 10 years, first as a local, founding partner for Panattoni Development Co. in both Portland and Seattle, then as a founding principal for Otis Wells Development.

In those roles, Wells oversaw the construction of more than 1.8 million square feet of industrial, office and retail properties in the Northwest, including the development of multiple LEED certified properties throughout the Portland market.

“I am very pleased to have found in Mike a leader who brings vast knowledge of commercial real estate, knows the Portland market intimately, and truly reflects our company’s RISE values—Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence,” says Steve Swerdlow, president of CBRE’s western division.

Before his development positions, Wells spent nearly 15 years as an industrial broker for Cushman & Wakefield in Portland. “Although I have the utmost respect for my previous partners and colleagues at CresaPartners, I’m thrilled to join CBRE and take on the new challenges as manager for the Portland market,” says Wells. “The opportunity to guide a team delivering a sophisticated and broad platform of services to our clients in this region is exciting.”

Wells is actively involved in numerous business and community organizations, having served in leadership positions for both NAIOP Oregon and SIOR. He is also a founding member of the Oregon State University Business Roundtable, serves as a board member for the Oregon Mentors non-profit organization and is a member of the Arlington Club.

“Mike has been a friend for many years and a great partner for the last two,” says Craig Reinhart, a managing principal with CresaPartners. “The opportunity to lead the Portland office of CBRE is a great opportunity for Mike, and we wish him the very best.”
