JACKSONVILLE, FL-Jim Brady has made the move from Marcus & Millichap to Franklin Street. Brady joined the firm as senior director.

“Marcus & Millichap is a fine company, but Franklin Street is a full-service company that offers not only investment brokerage, but also leasing, management and insurance,” Brady tells GlobeSt.com. “I am just wrapping up a 44,000-square-foot with a UK company that’s moving here to Jacksonville. I couldn’t do that at Marcus.”

As senior director for Franklin Street’s Jacksonville office, Brady is responsible for leading office and retail investment sales for Franklin Street's Real Estate group. He seems well equipped for the job. Before joining Franklin Street, Brady brokered and developed more than $1.4 billion in commercial properties.

“If you establish an insurance or a management relationship with an owner, there’s a much higher probability that you are going to have an open door to that listing,” Brady says. “At Marcus, we were always fighting that. We would sell a property, but because we didn’t offer management we’d have to refer it to somebody else. Very often we wouldn’t get that listing back again. They would give it to the management company.”

But Richard Matricaria, regional manager for the Orlando and Jacksonville offices of Marcus & Millichap, has a different point of view. He pointed to five new associates that have come to M&M recently, including brokers from Prudential, Duke Realty, CB Richard Ellis and NAI.

"Our firm has chosen to stick to investment sales exclusively," Matricaria tells GlobeSt.com. "If Mr. Brady had chosen the same he would have been a huge success within our firm. He has had a very successful career and I'm sure that will continue for him moving forward."

Brady brings more than 35 years of commercial real estate experience to Franklin Street. In fact, his tenure in the industry is one of the reasons he made the move.

“There’s a financial component to the decision to come to Franklin Street,” Brady says. “Our splits are a little more generous here than they were at Marcus & Millichap. I’m a senior guy. I only have a limited amount of years to work and every deal counts. If I get a little more of the pie for every deal I do, it enhances my lifestyle.”
