WASHINGTON, DC-The recession was good to the top executives at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. According to a New York Times report, the GSEs' two top executives made a combined $17 miillion in 2009 and 2010, while their organizations are getting a $153-billion infusion from taxpayers.

Charles Haldeman, who leads Freddie and just joined the GSE in 2009, made $7.8 million in 2009 and 2010. Fannie CEO Michael Williams, with the outfit since 1991, took in $9.3 million over the two years.

The top six executives at both Fannie and Freddie made $35.4 million over 2009 and 2010. Meanwhile, the GSEs could cost taxpayers $363 billion through 2013. Click here to read the full New York Times article on MSNBC.com.
