Ground Zero
I had the unfortunate opportunity to be on the Island of Manhattan on 9/11, and I’ll never forget it. It was brutal, it was surreal, and it was, most of all, defining. This weekend I had another defining moment. On a ULI tour, I walked the World Trade Center construction site. I walked the foundation of the 1 World Trade Center that is well under construction (70 floors so far), on its way to becoming the tallest building in the US. It is amazing, and a testimony to our resilient spirit. I stood on top of the site of the North Tower where the WTC memorial will be unveiled on September 11, 2011; 10 years after. Aside from the emotions of the visit, I enjoyed watching the cranes swinging, and the construction workers engaged in the rebuilds. What a joy.
