SAN FRANCISCO-In response to increased client demand for real estate capital markets expertise in the western US, Jones Lang LaSalle has hired industry veteran Paul Lee as a managing director to expand the firm’s sales, acquisition, joint venture and financing capabilities in the San Francisco market. In addition, JLL adds a few more to the San Francisco office including real estate investment banking veteran John Manning who joins the firm as a managing director on the real estate investment banking team, and Joe Euphrat to lead the firm’s healthcare capital markets practice on the West Coast within the firm’s Americas business.

Lee will partner with managing director and leader of the firm’s capital market practice in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, Michel Seifer, to advance the firm’s client service delivery of office, industrial, retail, multifamily and hotel-related transactions. “As equity funds and REITs continue to amass large sums of capital, they are actively searching for quality investments and the West Coast is a prime target,” says Elizabeth Hearle, JLL’s Northern California market director. “Paul’s near 30 years of experience here in the San Francisco market will be invaluable as we seek to satisfy the needs of our growing clientele.”

Seifer adds that “The increasing complexity of today's finance and investment market requires a highly skilled and experienced team that can provide expertise in all real estate asset classes and a deep understanding of both the debt and equity capital markets. In order to expand our service capabilities, we’ve made several strategic hires in the past several months that will greatly enhance our capital markets platform in the region and leverage our recent success and increase market share.”

Prior to joining JLL, Lee spent the last 10 years as the principal and CFO of Silverwing Development, where he was responsible for all debt, equity and asset management relationships for the firm’s various developments. Prior, Lee was a principal and managing director of Sonnenblick-Goldman Co. where he managed the firm’s West Coast operations and oversaw the origination, marketing, and placement of debt and equity transactions for the western United States.

Manning will work with co-heads and executive managing directors Tom Fish, Tom Melody and Mike Melody. Manning will partner with Seifer to expand the firm’s client service capabilities in debt and equity sourcing, note sales and loan originations throughout the San Francisco and Seattle regions.

“Northern California and the Pacific Northwest are strategic growth markets for our Americas Capital Markets business and there is increasing demand for debt and equity expertise to match our already strong investment sales depth in the region. John’s expertise and deep knowledge of the debt and equity markets will strengthen the firm’s offerings in northern California,” says Tom Melody. “John is the second, dedicated Capital Markets expert we’ve hired in the last month and we intend to continue to strengthen our national platform across all sectors of our capital markets business.”

Euphrat will partner with healthcare capital markets managing director Mindy Berman to advance the firm’s client service delivery of healthcare-related capital markets transactions.

“Healthcare real estate is a prized asset class for investors and developers. Within the last year JLL’s Healthcare practice has grown exponentially,” says Jay Koster, JLL’s Americas capital markets president. “By appointing Joe to lead the West Coast efforts of the Healthcare Capital Markets practice we are gearing up to serve our clients’ coast to coast, as growth and expansion in this pivotal sector show no signs of slowing down.”

Berman points out that “The demand for healthcare-related space is a demographically compelling situation, with substantial growth coming in the next 10 years. The growing and aging population, combined with healthcare reform will all contribute to increased demand with more than 29 million additional insured individuals expected nationwide by 2014. Joe will be a fantastic partner as the firm rises to meet these increasing needs.”

Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Euphrat served as the vice president and director of Kaufman Hall & Assoc. and senior vice president of Shattuck Hammond Partners.
