ROCKAWAY, NJ-Biotest Microbiology has taken 16,000 square feet at 400 Commons Way, says Colliers International New Jersey.
The company, which manufactures products to monitor and maintain quality assurance in such industries as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, research and healthcare, will use the site as its US headquarters, and research and development facility. It is a division of Dreieich, Germany-based Biotest AG, but is scheduled to be acquired by Merck KGaA by year-end.
The building is an 84,359-square-foot office/flex/warehouse facility near Routes 80 and 46. Other tenants in the building include Maruka USA and US Remodelers. Office rents in the area range from $6 per square foot for flex/warehouse space to $24.50 per square foot, according to LoopNet.
John Cunningham, chair of Colliers’ Life Science Practice Group, represented both the sub-landlord and subtenant in the transaction. Baker Properties owns 400 Commons Way.
