AUSTIN, TX-Prevarian Senior Living LP currently has two projects underway in Texas in an effort to meet the market needs for assisted living. The Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care community located in Round Rock recently broke ground on June 2, and the Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa, TX, is set for a $25-million expansion to begin this summer.

Austin, TX-based Trisun Healthcare and Prevarian Senior Living’s Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care will be located in Round Rock at 7230 Wyoming Springs Dr. The 90,000-square-foot senior community will feature 102 assisted living units, 32 of which will be dedicated to memory care residents. Accommodations will include small and large private suites, and one- and two-bedroom units with en-suite bathrooms. Upon completion, Prevarian Senior Living will own the building and Trisun will manage the facility. Trisun Healthcare is a subsidiary of Austin-based Harden Healthcare.

“We are excited about Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care as we expand our services to Round Rock residents,” Lew Little, chief executive officer of Harden Healthcare, says. “This community will be built to the highest standards and will offer state-of-the art amenities for its residents. We look forward to partnering with Prevarian Senior Living, a company that truly believes a senior community should feel like home.”

Dodd Crutcher, president of Prevarian Senior Living, says that “Seniors are the fastest-growing population segment in the US. Our goal with Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care is to create a secure and caring environment while also promoting a community feel with the comforts of home.” He adds that “This community will offer an ideal living arrangement for residents who need daily assistance, designed with a unique neighborhood concept that allows seniors to feel like they are part of an active community.”

The unique neighborhood concept will include outdoor spaces and courtyards, salon and spa, exercise room with classes, neighborhood bistro, country store and a playground for children, among other offerings. The community will also offer a special memory care unit specifically designed to enhance the quality of life for those with memory impairments and other forms of dementia. TRISUN will work with residents’ physicians and families to help promote independence, and preserve residents' dignity and self-esteem. Success-oriented activities, a secure and supportive environment, and a dedicated, well-trained staff will be the cornerstones of this special unit.

According to the 2010 US Census, nearly 12% of the Odessa, TX population is age 65 or older, creating an ongoing need for high-quality senior living facilities in the area, according to Prevarian Senior Living’s press release. The $25-million expansion of the Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa is set to begin this summer and is expected to be completed by July 2012. The expansion will add approximately 100 new jobs.

It will include a single-story assisted living building and an independent living apartment building, adding a total of 150 new units and 156,000 square feet to the community. With a 70-unit assisted living building featuring 30 units for memory care and an 80-unit independent living apartment building, the expansion will allow Parks Methodist Retirement Village to offer its residents the latest in senior living, according to the release. Amenities will include a new dining hall, salon and spa, exercise center, library, computer room and Wi-Fi service. The campus on Faudree Road currently consists of 55 independent living homes, 23 assisted living units and 90 skilled nursing beds.

“We are proud to partner with Sears Methodist Retirement System to help them meet the demand for senior living in the Odessa area,” says Crutcher. “The expansion will enhance Park Methodist's offerings by adding amenities and space for up to 190 additional residents, helping continue its track record of providing quality senior living for more than 30 years.”
According to Keith Perry, president and CEO of Sears Methodist Retirement System, “Prevarian Senior Living has a thorough understanding of senior living facilities and the needs of our residents. We are excited to break ground and expand our Odessa community so we can offer the latest amenities to even more residents and their families.”
