HOUSTON-Jones Lang LaSalle continues to expand its capital markets dominance. On the West Coast, Joe Leon, Michelle Schierberl and Charlie McPhee recently joined the firm in capital markets posts, and how in Houston, the firm has added two market-leading investment sales experts.

Industry veteran Rudy Hubbard joins the firm as a managing director, while Leah Gallagher joins as a vice president. Both will strengthen the firm’s existing capital markets platform in Texas and the Southwest, which already includes prominent investment sales and real estate investment banking teams in the Houston market.

The new investment sales experts will partner with Paul House, Tom Melody, Mike Melody and Tom Fish, all executive managing directors and national co-leaders of the firm’s real estate investment banking practice, to strengthen the firm’s client service offerings.

“Rudy and Leah have a long track record of success in Houston and are well known as two of the top producers in the Southwest,” says House. “We also have a strong bench of seasoned capital markets experts in place now and this combined team will expand our market dominance in Houston. Together, we can leverage a wide range of deep relationships in this critical market.”

In the past several months, the Houston capital markets team has brought to market or closed a number of significant deals in the city. In May, the team began marketing the premier office tower known as 1301 Fannin for sale and, prior to that, closed a $42 million senior mortgage note for 919 Milam.

Dan Bellow, JLL’s Houston market director, points out that “Though much of the rest of the nation is still battling back from recession, Houston had one of its best years ever in 2010, due to the resilience of the energy industry. In fact, sales volume in this city was up by more than 50 percent in the first quarter. We’ve seen a great pickup in client demand and we expect these key new hires help us solidify those interactions.”

Current JLL vice president, Ross Cannizaro, will join Hubbard and Gallagher as part of Paul House’s coordinated effort to broaden the firm’s investment sales expertise in the Southwest.

Hubbard has nearly 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and has closed more than $2 billion in sales during his tenure with a national commercial real estate firm. Prior, he was a senior vice president with Trione & Gordon/Oncor International. He has also been a consultant with NCNB Texas, now Bank of America, where he sold more than $700 million in foreclosed properties.

Gallagher has more than 10 years of experience in the industry, most recently as a senior associate with a national real estate firm. She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the ULI Young Leaders Group.
