Beam

NEWPORT BEACH, CA-CB Richard Ellis has named Craig Beam managing director to lead its healthcare services practice in the Western US and has bolstered its retail group with the addition of Scott Riddles as a new SVP.

Beam formerly was an SVP at MDS Consulting, a healthcare consulting firm primarily serving the Western US. He is regarded as one of the leading national real estate and policy experts in the healthcare industry, according to a CBRE announcement about the new appointment. Riddles, a top tenant representation expert in the retail industry, will continue to emphasize his work with retailers on a multi-market basis at CBRE.

Beam, who will be based in CBRE’s Newport Beach office, in his role as the practice leader in the Western US “will play a key role in CBRE’s national Healthcare Services group, which focuses on providing real estate solutions for hospitals, clinical facilities and medical office buildings,” CBRE said in hits announcement. Nationally, the group manages approximately 60 million square feet of inpatient, outpatient, medical office and support space facilities on behalf of US health systems. In addition, CBRE has delivered over $4 billion in healthcare construction projects since 2001. It has also assisted healthcare systems in the development of their outpatient services strategy while optimizing their existing portfolios.

Riddles

Jim Hayden, executive managing director of CBRE’s Healthcare Services group, says that over the past severl years, CBRE’s healthcare business has been focused on providing more strategic, efficient and cost-effective solutions in response to the complex real estate needs of its hospital clients.

Beam has been responsible for the planning and development of over $3 billion of health care projects over the course of his career. In addition, he has been involved with numerous health care policy issues and has served on numerous boards. He is a past chairman of the American Heart Association and recently completed a term on the advisory board at the National Institutes of Health. He is also a past Treasurer of the World Heart Federation, and is a published author on a broad range of health care topics.

Riddles, who has joined CBRE’s Western Division Retail team, brings with him his team of Derek Fitch, Rob Crumly and Ryan Riddles, all of whom will be based in the Newport Beach office.

For the past 25 years, Riddles has served as a manager and sales professional representing national and regional retailers in all aspects of site selection, strategic planning and development. He comes to CBRE from SRS Real Estate Partners, formerly Staubach Retail, where he was a founding partner. His clients include CarMax, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Jared Jewelers and Total Wine, among many other nationally recognized brands.

Jeff Moore, senior managing director for CBRE’s Orange County Region, says that bringing Riddles and his team aboard will help tp “provide retailers with a comprehensive strategy for their real estate needs throughout the Western US.”
