STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ-The Walters Group, developer of Stafford Park, has broken ground on Stafford Preserve, a luxury rental community in its environmentally conscious Stafford Park development. Occupancy will begin in April.
Eighteen three-story buildings will consist 216 units in a combination of one- and two-bedroom apartments, and townhouses, with green design and environmentally conscious construction. It will have a two-mile walking path, and be surrounded by 17,000 acres of permanently protected state forest. Rents will begin at $1,195 monthly. Single-family homes for rent in the area range from $1,100 to $1,975, according to a residential website.
“It’s going to be an upscale, walkable community designed to foster interaction and create a real sense of place for residents,” says Ed Walters, Jr., partner and founder at the Walters Group.
Within walking distance is the 410,000-square-foot Stafford Park shopping center, which is home to a variety of retailers, including Target, Costco, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, PetSmart, Ulta, AT&T, Vitamin Shoppe, and Olive Garden.
The 370-acre Stafford Park redevelopment of a capped landfill is being designed to meet both Silver LEED and Energy Star certification. Also part of the project is New Jersey’s largest proposed solar project, a 6.5-megawatt farm on a portion of site, will call for 24,624 panels to be installed on 30 acres.
