MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ-Covanta Energy Corp. has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification in the commercial interiors category for its 105,000-square-foot corporate headquarters space in the Advance@Southgate, a 320,000-square-foot, Class A office building at 445 South Street here.

“One of the main reasons Covanta selected Advance@Southgate was due to the extensive redevelopment work we had completed to substantially upgrade the property,” says Advance Realty Group COO Kurt Padavano in a statement. Advance Realty owns the building in a joint venture with Strategic Capital Partners. The partnership acquired the building in January 2006.

Advance Realty was also awarded the 2010 New Good Neighbor Award from the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) for the upgrades and improvements made to the property, including new building systems, a renovated lobby and amenities.

Other major tenants at the building include The Travelers Indemnity Co., with nearly 106,000 square feet, and Marsh USA, with some 54,000 square feet. Rents in the area range from $12 per square foot to $38.50 per square foot, according to LoopNet.
