COLORADO SPRINGS, CO-NewMark Merrill Mountain States has been selected to manage Citadel Crossing shopping center here. According to a prepared statement, Citadel Crossing will become the largest contiguous power center in South Colorado Springs with more than 470,000 square feet of space when Lowe’s opens a new store there in December of 2012.

At approximately 120,000 square feet plus an outdoor garden center, this will be Lowe’s fifth store in the Colorado Springs area, says the statement. “Colorado Springs has always been a part of our business plan to serve the entire state of Colorado, and this project marks our entry into the market,” says Allen Ginsborg, NewMark Merrill Mountain States managing director and principal. “I developed Home Depot’s first three stores in the market over 15 years ago and have always liked it.

Citadel Crossing sits directly across from the mall on Academy Boulevard and Platte Avenue. The center is anchored by PetSmart, Office Depot, Guitar Center and Dollar Tree.

“The property is owned by an experienced shopping center developer from California who decided a more intensive, hands-on approach was required to build on the positive momentum of Lowe’s opening and Citadel Crossing’s revitalization,” Ginsborg adds.

NewMark Merrill Mountain States, a division of NewMark Merrill Cos. LLC, owns and/or manages a portfolio of almost 2 million square feet of retail space. Current projects include Arvada Marketplace East, Broomfield Plaza, and Fort Collins Marketplace, among others.

Last September, for example, NewMark Merrill Mountain States was appointed the new management firm for four of Panattoni Development Cos. Colorado retail centers totaling more than 1 million square feet. As GlobeSt.com previously reported, that management assignment was also procured by Ginsborg.
