LUBLIN, POLAND-Atrium European Real Estate Ltd., based on the Bailiwick of Jersey, has announced that a 215,200-square-foot Auchan hypermarket will anchor its Felicity Mall project here. The 800,000-square-foot retail center is currently under development and will open in 2013.

Atrium’s Polish subsidiary, Centrum Handlowe Felin Sp, and Auchan Polska have signed a letter of intent whereby Atrium will develop and subsequently sell the hypermarket to the French international retailer on its completion. Auchan has 575 hypermarkets in Europe and Asia.

The mall is on the eastern side of Lublin at the intersection of Wincenty Witos and Grzybowa streets, on a 17-hectare site. Once complete, the center will offer 150 shops, a cinema and a do-it-yourself store, as well as a 1,000-space parking garage. Cushman & Wakefield is the leasing agent for the mall.

Rachel Lavine, CEO of Atrium said Felicity is the first mall the company has started since the downturn. “This latest partnership with Auchan is a great endorsement of our scheme,” she said. “Felicity continues to attract interest from many other international and Polish retailers, and we believe that Auchan, as hypermarket anchor, further complements the existing strong line-up of tenants.” The island where the company is headquartered is a British Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom.
