(Mark Your Calendars for RealShare Apartments 2011, October 20 in Los Angeles).
LOS ANGELES-Dallas-based Berkadia Investment Client Services has opened an office here in an expansion in the West, naming Joe Kimaz as senior director to head the operation. Kimaz will be focusing on building and maintaining client relationships, using his extensive market expertise to analyze assets and identify investment opportunities for clients, according to an announcement regarding the new office. He will also be responsible for managing and negotiating transactions.
Kimaz will report to Stephannie Mower, managing director and national head of Berkadia Investment Client Services. Berkadia launched the new Investment Client Services division earlier this year, as reported by GlobeSt.com at the time.
Mower called Los Angeles "a great choice for the initial growth of Investment Client Services" both for its proximity to the firm's existing and potential client base, and the access it offers to Berkadia's mortgage brokerage team, which is already established here.
Kimaz most recently served as first vice president at CB Richard Ellis, where he was named a Top-15 producer in 2009 and 2010. He has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, having previously served at firms such as Cushman & Wakefield and Grubb & Ellis.
During his time in the industry, Kimaz has worked with private, institutional and special asset clients, including Berkadia, LNR, Bayview and Ocwen Financial. A multifamily specialist, Kimaz is also experienced in all general asset categories, with recent sales that include multifamily, retail, office and industrial buildings. The new BICS office is at 10940 Wilshire Blvd. in the existing Berkadia mortgage banking office at that address.
