DALLAS-In January 2011, St. Louis-based Cassidy Turley made inroads into Texas through the acquisition of Capstar Commercial Real Estate Services, a company that handled the management, leasing and acquisition of office space. Eight months later, Cassidy Turley continues its growth in the Lone Star State with the addition of a tenant rep component.
Greg Biggs, Randy Cooper, Rob Morris and Craig Wilson formerly of Cushman & Wakefield’s brokerage services group in Texas have been tapped to establish the company's tenant representative practice in Cassidy Turley's Dallas office. The foursome took up its new duties effective Aug. 22.
Biggs is executive managing director; Cooper has the role of vice chairman of brokerage services; Morris is vice president and Wilson, senior managing director. All four have also been named principals.
“Capstar’s history for 25 years was involvement in the landlord representative business in the office sector,” explains Bret Bunnett, Cassidy Turley’s regional managing principal, Texas. “When Cassidy Turley outlined its objectives for growth across the country, it began with landlord representative businesses, then diversification of service lines after that.”
Bunnett tells GlobeSt.com that tenant representation seemed to be the next logical step in Texas, as it is complementary to the ownership rep side of the business. He goes on to say that Capstar had had a long term relationship with – and had worked well with – Bibbs, Cooper, Morris and Wilson while they were with Cushman & Wakefield.
“The team is respected in the market, operates with integrity, has a history of success and great enthusiasm for the business,” Bunnett adds. “The team also works in a highly collaborative manner, which makes it more exciting.”
Randy Cooper says he and his colleagues willingly came on board when Cassidy Turley approached them to head tenant rep operations. “Cassidy Turley is effectively a new company in the United States, but still has 100-year-roots,” he explains. “It’s been an interesting story to watch it grow over the past year or so.” Furthermore, he adds, when Cassidy Turley acquired Capstar, “that peaked our interest. People started talking about Cassidy Turley and its impact on Dallas.”
Bunnett says Cassidy Turley’s plans for Texas include building a tenant representative core in Houston, and adding industrial, property management and corporate service expertise. Though there is no specific timeline on the company’s growth in the Lone Star State, Bunnett suggests it could all happen within the next 12 months.
