EWING, NJ-Minneapolis-based construction and development firm the Opus Group were awarded a contract to design and build a new 250,000-square-foot corporate headquarters campus for household manufacturer Church & Dwight Co. Inc. at PrincetonSouth Corporate Center, the company announced in a statement. The project will be the fourth in the 104-acre, $230 million complex about 10 miles southwest of Princeton.

The campus--located off Interstate 95--will include two 125,000-square-feet class A office buildings that will be designed and constructed with sustainable practices and elements, the company says. An investment group led by Founders Properties, LLC will own the building under a long-term lease with Church & Dwight.

“We are extremely pleased to be selected as a partner by Church & Dwight Co. to design and build a customized solution and bring to life the company’s vision for a new corporate headquarters,” says Dave Menke, senior vice president and general manager of Opus Development Corporation.

The buildings, also accessible via the newly expanded Route 31, will be connected to allow for employee engagement and interaction, Opus says. Construction will begin in mid- October and the buildings are expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

James R. Craigie, chairman and chief executive officer of Church and Dwight, says in a statement that the company will consolidate its headquarters to the new Ewing location. It currently has offices in North Berger, Princeton and Rocky Hill. “The pro-business efforts of Governor Christie’s Office provided the incentives that our company needed to maintain our headquarters in New Jersey and keep 1,000 employees in the state,” Craigie says. “We look forward to partnering with The Opus Group and Founders Properties to build a sustainable campus that will create benefits for our company, our employees, the community and the State of New Jersey.”

Approximately half of Church & Dwight’s New Jersey employees will work at the new corporate headquarters following its completion, the company says.
