McClurkin
NEWPORT BEACH, CA-SRS Real Estate Partners has hired the team of Steve McClurkin, Garrett Colburn, and Nichole Slykhous to focus on tenant representation. According to Chris Maguire, CEO of Dallas-based SRS, the new team in the Newport Beach office will specialize in expanding national retail and restaurant concepts and will also continue consulting with landlords on outdoor malls/lifestyle centers throughout the Western US.
McClurkin has joined SRS as senior vice president and market leader for the Newport Beach office; Colburn comes on as a senior associate and Slykhous joins SRS as a real estate analyst. The three formerly were with Grubb & Ellis Co.
McClurkin, who will be responsible for growing the Newport Beach office while continuing to focus on tenant representation throughout Southern California, has more than 14 years of experience in the retail sector in marketing, management, merchandising, trade area analysis, negotiating and analyzing real estate throughout California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii.
Colburn
At Grubb & Ellis, he assisted with the launch of the company’s national tenant representation division. In 2011, he was ranked number one in the country for retail brokers with Grubb & Ellis before joining SRS.
Colburn, who focused on tenant representation at Grubb & Ellis, has been in the commercial real estate industry since 2004, transitioning from development and project management into brokerage in 2009. He specializes in real estate representation for expanding restaurants and retailers such as Chase Bank, H&M, Buffalo Wild Wings, Planet Fitness, Harbor Freight Tools, Chronic Tacos & Cantina, Sleep Number, Hyatt Hotels, and Francesca's Collection.
Slykhous, who will provide additional support on all aspects of the transaction process, also has experience with client development and database management. At Grubb & Ellis, she was a real estate analyst.

The SRS announcement regarding the new team in Newport Beach notes that the Dallas-based company is the largest national real estate company in the country exclusively dedicated to retail services. Founded in 1986, the company operates from offices across the country providing brokerage, corporate, development, investment and managed services.
Grubb & Ellis, as a matter of company policy, does not comment on the departure of employees from the company.
