NEW YORK CITY-Aegis Media, a media and marketing communications firm headquartered in the UK, has signed on to lease 94,000 square feet of space for its North American office at 150 E. 42nd St., a building owned by Hiro North American Properties.

Cassidy Turley executive vice chairman and principal Richard Bernstein represented the tenant, along with VP and principal Adam Ardise. Scott Gottlieb, Ed Goldman, Rocco Laginestra and Brian Dooley at CBRE represented the landlord.

Bernstein tells GlobeSt.com that Aegis is looking forward to personalizing the space they occupy in the building, which was taken as is when the sublease began.

“They moved into an as-built condition so it didn’t really reflect the personality, the energy and the direction of the company,” Bernstein tells GlobeSt.com. He adds that there are “expansion options structured into the lease, because their business is very strong right now and they anticipate significant expansion over time.”

Like many companies, Aegis, Bernstein says, was looking for collaborative, open space that would facilitate communication among different groups. “Like most of the spaces we see today there are no class system in place—it’s wide-open and collaborative,” he says. “It encourages communication.”

The lease that Bernstein and colleague Ardise negotiated is for a 15-year term at the building, which Hiro North American Properties acquired in 1987 and modernized a decade later.
