SAN FRANCISCO-CBRE Group Inc. hired Jim Korinek to CBRE Capital Markets as executive vice president. Korinek has extensive experience in real estate debt including conventional, bridge, and structured loans. In addition, he has focused on equity capitalizations utilizing preferred equity and joint venture structures.

Beginning his career with more than 15 years of institutional investing experience in life company and pension fund advisory organizations, he then expanded to work on more complex structured transactions for entrepreneurial investors. Korinek will partner with executive vice president John Nelson to arrange debt and equity financing in the Bay area and nationally.

The team will leverage the CBRE investment properties platform, as well as the private capital group, to grow the CBRE debt and equity finance presence in the region.

Korinek will directly report to vice chairman Bruce Francis, who is the Western regional leader, and executive managing director Michael Smith in the local San Francisco office. “Jim has a depth of experience across asset types and financial structures,” says Francis.

He points out that “His expertise is invaluable to our debt and equity finance group. He is a great collaborator who understands the needs of both capital providers and users. We are so excited to welcome him to our outstanding platform in the West,” adds Francis.

Korinek has spent the last three years at Realty Recapitalization Advisors as a managing member. In that role he focused on recapitalizing assets in challenging capital markets. Previously, he worked at NewStar Financial Inc. originating bridge financings and at two private equity firms where he led the financing and equity capitalization for over 3 million square feet of assets.
