NEW YORK CITY-The latest GlobeSt.com poll asked readers to weigh in on next year’s presidential election with the question, “Who’s your presidential best bet?” The results, which closed last week, showed that the majority of readers, 33%, pick Republican candidate Mitt Romney to take the White House in 2012.

Peter Slatin, associate publisher and editorial director at Real Capital Analytics, tells GlobeSt.com that the results “are very representative of where the country stands right now.” Slatin adds that respondents voiced their views as part of the commercial real estate and business community.

“The business community has clearly been hard on Obama,” Slatin says, “given that you would expect a much bigger edge to go to Romney.” President Obama trailed Romney in the poll, garnering 28% of the vote. The poll received 455 votes in all.

Slatin expressed some surprise that Herman Cain received 23% of the vote, given the nature of his 9-9-9 tax program. Michele Bachmann received 1% and Rick Perry received 8%, while another 8% of voters were apparently holding out hope that someone else would win in 2012.
