HANOVER, GERMANY-Volkswagen has agreed to occupy a 485,000-square-foot facility to provide supply and logistics for the Amarok four-door pick-up truck production. The Sydney-based Goodman Group is building the site.

Goodman acquired almost one million square feet in the Black Heath commercial area of Hanover, near the existing Volkswagen production facility. The new facility will have undercover storage areas, warehouse and refrigerated storage areas. The first part of the property will be handed over by January, Goodman said in a statement.

Danny Peeters, CEO of Goodman Continental Europe, said the company has experience in building logistics centers in Germany, such as for BMW in Leipzig and Mercedes-Benz in Malsch. Goodman has a total of 386 properties under management.

“We also hope to be more involved in the Hanover region in the future,” Peeters said in the statement. Hans Monninghoff, head of the economy department for the city, said in the statement that the Volkswagen site is exactly what was planned for the Black Heath area, “namely the establishment of a supply industry and logistics hub,” he said.
