CHICAGO-John Sebree has returned to Marcus & Millichap, this time hiring on as the new national director of the Encino, CA-based firm’s National Multi Housing Group. Sebree, who was most recently a managing director with HFF, will work out of Chicago.

Sebree had joined the local Marcus & Millichap office here in 1991, and opened the company’s Indianapolis office in 1997. Most recently, he was on an HFF team that handled multifamily complexes, such as the sale of the 256-unit Washington Quarters Apartments sale for $18 million in Avon, IN this year. An HFF spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com that she declines to comment for this story.

John Kerin, president and CEO of the firm, tells GlobeSt.com that Sebree can lead the charge in growing apartment investment, “with a special focus on the mid-market $5 million to $20 million price range.”

Hessam Nadji, SVP and managing director at Marcus & Millichap, tells GlobeSt.com that Sebree has the experience for the new job. “His relationship with major private and institutional investors will be valuable assets to our large contingent of apartment investment specialists across the United States,” he says.

Nadji also is leading a search for someone to oversee the company’s Institutional Property Advisors unit, which was launched this past year. Nadji is temporarily leading this division.
