Of course, creating one source for all things commercial real estate in New Jersey is a bit of a misnomer. At its most basic, the Garden State is essentially three states in one -- suburban New York City, suburban Philadelphia, and the counties in between – each with different geography, demographics, and property needs.

It’s something I’ve watched, first from a single perspective over years writing about retail and real estate for trade magazines, associations and at GlobeSt.com, and more recently, covering all aspects of commercial real estate in New Jersey.

Yet after more than 15 years as a Northern New Jersey resident, it’s clear to me that there are many New Jerseys: The Hudson Riverfront, the various classes of office space and warehouse space farther inland, the booming industrial area by 8A, the rebuilding of markets in South Jersey, multifamily everywhere – and yes, the malls – to name a few. We’re seeing expansions, new leases and conversions in all of these sectors that are remaking the state day by day.

The result is that there are many stories out there, but not all can fit into the news updates here at GlobeSt.com. That’s the purpose of this blog – to analyze, explore trends and tell some of the more unusual real estate stories taking place from Paramus to Cape May, Warren to Hudson.
