SEATTLE-Colliers International has named employees Mike Mixer and Dharmesh Patel to lead the US division of its Hotels group. Patel is a hotel expert in San Francisco, and Mixer is the managing partner in the company’s Las Vegas office.

The two replace Bob Eaton in the hospitality leadership position. Eaton retired this past summer, and has opened up his own company, Eaton Hotel Investments, based in Arroyo Grande, Ca.

Patel tells GlobeSt.com that the various geographic leaders of the hotel unit, including Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia, work as a committee to specialize in the acquisition and disposition of hotel and resort properties. The US group also provides development, management and other hospitality consulting services, in collaboration with Atlanta-based PKF Hospitality Research.

Colliers has said it wants to expand its US hotel brokerage services, even though the market took back steps during the recent double-dip recession scare. However, Patel says he expects transaction velocity to return in the first half of 2012. “The hospitality industry is seeing a lot of improvement in occupancy and RevPar numbers, which should ultimately help drive pricing upward and cause stock prices to rise,” he says. “REITs still have access to capital, and we will continue to be key players as we enter the new year.”
