HICAGO-Johnson Publishing Co. LLC, which sold its iconic 11-story headquarters at 820 S. Michigan Ave. to Columbia College Chicago in 2010, has found a new home. The producer of Black American magazines such as Ebony and Jet has leased 40,000 square feet at 200 S. Michigan Ave., taking the top three floors.
John Johnson, founder of the publications, died in 2005 at age 87. The move is now part of a consolidation for the company after its restructuring, says Joe Neverauskas, SVP with BPG Properties Ltd., which owns 200 S. Michigan.
Neverauskas tells GlobeSt.com that the 357,777-square-foot building is now about 84% leased, with most of the availability on the upper floors.“We’ve got great views of Lake Michigan, and have really benefited from the development of Millennium Park.” Tenants at the building include RTKL Associates and Lauglin Constable.
Jeff Bernstein, Ben Azulay and Andrew DeMoss with Bradford Allen Realty Services represented BPG in the lease. David Herbert and Michael D’Angelo with UGL Services represented the tenant.
