Johnson Publishing Leases Top of 200 S. Michigan

CHICAGO-The firm, producer of magazines such as Jet and Ebony, sold its longtime 11-story headquarters in 2010 to Columbia College Chicago.

HICAGO-Johnson Publishing Co. LLC, which sold its iconic 11-story headquarters at 820 S. Michigan Ave. to Columbia College Chicago in 2010, has found a new home. The producer of Black American magazines such as Ebony and Jet has leased 40,000 square feet at 200 S. Michigan Ave., taking the top three floors.

John Johnson, founder of the publications, died in 2005 at age 87. The move is now part of a consolidation for the company after its restructuring, says Joe Neverauskas, SVP with BPG Properties Ltd., which owns 200 S. Michigan.
