MIAMI—The University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park is attracting retailers to help serve the researchers and professional service firms that are doing business at the park. UMLSTP developer Wexford Science & Technology just inked deals with six retailers.

Balans Restaurant, the Pizzeria and Cafe, UPS Store, Subway, Quantum Fitness and Liberty Dry Cleaners will occupy a combined 11,600 square feet of retail space at 1951 NW 7th Ave., on the ground floor of the park’s first building. The ground floor features office space, wet and dry labs and an innovation center with shared business services to emerging tenants.

“The retail mix is extremely important to the Life Science Park. We leased to the highest quality restaurants with cutting edge designs that will impact the front running image of the UMLSTP,” Kerry Newman of Koniver Stern Group, who represented Wexford Science & Technology in the retail transactions, tells GlobeSt.com. “The restaurants will be an important amenity to not only employees at the biotech park, but the entire medical center community. Plus, the retail component also increases the desirability of the Life Science Park to prospective businesses in the science and technology industries.”
