CHICAGO-LaSalle Investment Management, a division of locally based Jones Lang LaSalle, and Quantum Global Real Estate have partnered to create an investment joint venture that will, with leverage, have $1 billion of buying power in global real estate assets.
In a statement Thursday, the JV said it will target predominantly core real estate assets for long-term holds on properties and portfolios in excess of $100 million in mature markets. The initial focus is expected to be on Australia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
LaSalle’s global CEO Jeff Jacobson and Switzerland-based Quantum Global owner Jean-Claude Bastos de Morais will lead the venture. The Quantum owner said he had sought a global partner. “This joint venture represents the optimal approach for us to commence investing in global real estate on behalf of our clients,” de Morais said in the statement. The firm has been active in global real estate investment, but not yet to an extent on a global scale and not predominantly in core real estate assets, a Quantum spokesman tells GlobeSt.com.
Jacobson said in the statement that LaSalle is dedicated to finding emerging investors. “The venture gives us access to capital that can be quickly deployed in large real estate assets, something which we believe to be of strategic importance in today’s real estate investment environment,” he said.
