PARIS-Geodis, a logistics firm, has renewed and expanded more than one million square feet at Prologis Park Evry. The company signed a renewal at two buildings for 749,000 square feet, as well as an expansion of 266,000 square feet.
The expansion is expected to be complete in 2013, according to a Prologis statement this morning. Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, managing director at Geodis, said in the statement that the Evry location will become a strategic hub for the country. “"This long-term agreement will enable Geodis to strengthen our distribution network south of Paris and offer our customers innovative and effective solutions in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) retail and high-tech sectors,” he said.
Phillip Dunne, managing director and president of Prologis Europe, agreed that the region has become a hub, and more new product is coming. “The development of Geodis' large state-of-the-art facility is indicative of the trend toward broader regional distribution networks, which in turn is driving demand for large modern buildings," he said in the statement.
The Prologis park, in the south area of the city, consists of three facilities at the junction of the A6 and A104 highways. The park includes tenants such as ID Logistics. Prologis owns about 35.3 million square feet of distribution and industrial space in France.
