LOS ANGELES –The Herrick-Hershiser Group, a partnership between baseball legend and former Dodger Orel Hershiser, Joey Herrick of Natural Balance Pet Foods and Aaron Sokol of Paratum Inc., is teaming with global information-technology and systems company LG CNS and a future winning bidder to turn iconic Dodger Stadium into a futuristic electronic showcase. The partnership has unveiled elaborate images to help illustrate how the 50-year-old stadium can be modified to reflect current electronic innovations. L.A.-based architect Brian Kite of Lynx Architecture has created the proposed designs.
“To me, Dodger Stadium is hallowed baseball ground,” says Hershiser. “Mr. O’Malley built Dodger Stadium to last a hundred years, and structurally it’s in great shape.”
Hershiser goes on to say that the ball club’s owner, Frank McCourt, has improved the stadium tremendously over the past several years by adding new seats, new concession stands and by renovating the Dugout Club.
As GlobeSt.com previously reported, in April 2008 the Dodgers unveiled a $500 million Silver LEED stadium improvement plan that would bring modern amenities to the venue, which had fallen behind newer stadiums in terms of the modern-day space requirements for technology, concessions, storage and office space. The improvements were anticipated to be completed by opening day of the 2012 baseball season.
“It would be a shame for anyone to tear down this beloved Los Angeles landmark, especially one that is perfectly suited to take advantage of all that LG CNS brings to the table. From the most technologically advanced scoreboards in the country, to live footage and statistics available to fans via smartphones and tablets, we believe these upgrades will provide an elevated fan experience that will be second to none.”
In addition, Masterimage 3D, which will be assisting with the project, plans to include a state-of-the-art 3D museum in the upgraded stadium, allowing families to watch 3D video clips of beloved Dodger stars and relive some of the great moments in Dodgers’ history.
GlobeSt.com was unable to reach the Hershiser-Herrick Group or LG CNS before deadline to find out the details of the bidding process, when the proposed construction would begin, when the project is expected to be completed or its anticipated cost, but will be following this story as it develops.
