LYNDHURST, NJ–Aeropostale, a national retailer of teen apparel, has relocated its regional headquarters to Lyndhurst, taking a long-term lease for nearly 70,000 square feet at 125 Chubb Way with SL Green Realty Corp. The lease transaction is the largest so far this year in the Meadowlands submarket.

SL Green, which signed Aeropostale to a long-term lease at 1515 Broadway in Times Square two years ago for its Manhattan flagship store, recently re-positioned the Lyndhurst property.

Aeropostale relocated its regional operations from Wayne, and followed Barnes & Noble and Knowledgepoint 360 Group to 125 Chubb Way.

“We’re delighted to extend SL Green’s relationship with one of the nation’s premier retailers, providing them with attractive, highly functional and conveniently located office space in northern New Jersey,” says John Barnes, who is a senior vice-president and director of the suburban division for Reckson, a division of SL Green.

Barnes, along with Clark Briffel of SL Green and Greg H. Barken of CBRE, represented the building owner SL Green in the transaction. The brokers said that the building’s top-grade technology and access to back-up power, plus its proximity to mass transit, were the most compelling factors for Aeropostale in deciding to make the move.

Aeropostale was represented by Remy deVarenne, Sarah Jones, Amanda Bokmon and Richard Carson from CBRE.

The 278,000-square-foot property, consisting of two five-story towers connected in the center by a 65-foot, full-height atrium with skylights, was recently renovated to “best-in-class” standards, Barnes said. It offers amenities including a food service and a fitness center, and is also situated close to shopping, restaurants, and other amenities.

The property has direct access to several major highways - Routes 3, 17, I-80, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike -along with public transportation. There are two train stations in Lyndhurst.
