FLORHAM PARK, NJ–At the Friday dedication ceremony for BASF’s ultra-“green” new North American headquarters in Florham Park, The Rockefeller Group developers made it plain they expect the chemical company to have new neighbors soon at their 268-acre master-planned sustainable development.

“BASF coming here has brought new interest from other major, major corporations,” Leslie E. Smith Jr., executive vice-president, tells GlobeSt.com.

“Even with a 20% vacancy factor in Morris County, we’ve got Class A companies seriously at the table with our building team.” Smith predicted announcement by Labor Day of further projects at The Green at Florham Park, as the development on Park Avenue is called.

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company and had been located in Florham Park at an adjacent property since 2004. The company heard the Chris Christie administration’s call to “grow here,” said Lt. Gov. Kim Guagdano in her speech at the building unveiling, noting that great efforts have been made over the past two years to adjust public policies to encourage business retention and growth.

Construction of the new BASF facility began in July of 2010. The building is designed to achieve LEED
