CHICAGO-RKF, a prominent New York City-based retail commercial real estate firm, has opened a local office on Michigan Avenue. The company has hired Anthony Campagni as a managing director and Elan Rasansky, both from Baum Realty Group, as an associate.
This will be the seventh office for the company, which is known for its work in Times Square, Union Square and Herald Square. Other offices include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Miami, which opened last year.
Robert Futterman, chairman and CEO, tells GlobeSt.com that the firm has been doing deals in Chicago for a number of years. RKF represented Topshop in its 50,000-square-foot least at 830 N. Michigan, for example, and has also helped clients such as Intermix, Kiehl’s and Oliver Peoples in the city. “We feel like the market has been hit hard since 2008, but we’ve started to see some real growth,” Futterman says. “Tenants that we represent nationally are interested in opening stores in Chicago. I expect we should be announcing some deals in the next three to four months.”
Futterman says there will likely be a few more managing directors hired at the office, with about seven total brokers to start, with enough growth to follow to push the new Chicago office to 25% of the company’s business. “It should mirror what we have here in New York City, with about 50% landlord representatives and 50% tenant reps,” he says.
Campagni is a great start for the local push, Futterman says. They both started their careers at the same firm, Garrick-Aug Associates in New York City, which has been the growth area for many RKF executives.
