Construction Begins On $284M Replacement Hospital

SANTA ROSA, CA-The foundation and steel framework have been started on the new, 182,300-square-foot Sutter Medical Center, which is replacing the facility originally built in 1938.

SANTA ROSA, CA-Construction has begun on Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa, a $284 million replacement hospital designed by HGA Architects and Engineers. The new facility will replace the current SMCSR on Chanate Rd., located just north of San Francisco, which was originally built in 1938. The 182,300-square-foot center is expected to open in October 2014.

The new SMCSR will showcase the most advanced building technologies and sustainable strategies by using integrated produce delivery methods that will significantly streamline the construction process and reduce costs. Working closely with Unger Construction and Sutter Health, HGA designed the hospital to become a community anchor and set a benchmark for excellence in patient-centered healthcare.
