PALO ALTO, CA-Stan Johnson Co., one of the nation’s leading real estate brokerage and advisory firms specializing in single tenant, net lease investment sales, has continued its national expansion plans with the opening of a new regional office in the San Francisco Bay Area located at 530 Lytton Ave in Palo Alto, CA. In connection with the new office opening, the firm hired two new lead brokers, Andrew Barnes and Justin Stark.

GlobeSt.com chatted with Barnes at the firm’s ICSC RECon2012 party in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, and he explained that the firm is looking to grow that office in the coming years, but stressed that the professionals they are looking at, even if they have the talent “really have to fit the specific culture of the firm.”

Barnes is a 10-year veteran of corporate real estate brokerage, acquisition, and sale-leaseback structured financing. Prior to joining Stan Johnson Co., Barnes founded the National NNN Investment Group in 2008 and was SVP with Sansome Pacific Properties and its brokerage division, Battery Commercial Corp. for six years. Prior to that, he was the managing partner and co-founder of the San Francisco based real estate investment firm Kyodai Holdings. Barnes has been involved in over $815 million in real estate transactions and brings both buy-side and sell-side expertise to his transactions.

Barnes says that the firm is focused on providing brokerage services to its west coast developer, institutional and owner/operator clients. “It is estimated that close to 50% of 1031 driven net lease investors originate from California,” Barnes tells GlobeSt.com, “with a significant amount of those coming from Northern California.”

Joining Barnes in the San Francisco office is lead broker Stark. Prior to joining Stan Johnson Co., Stark was part of the Cornish & Carey Commercial net leased investment group in San Francisco, and previously began his career focusing on net lease transactions at BT Commercial. Stark, who will focus in the retail and industrial sector, has represented some of the most active developers, institutions, and private capital investors from across the country.

“We are really thrilled to launch the San Francisco office as part of our national expansion plans,” explains Daniel Herrold, executive managing director, in a prepared statement. “Now that we have offices in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, we now have begun to establish a stronger West Coast presence which will further enhance our platform and services we offer our clients. Both Andrew and Justin provide strong net lease experience to our firm that will help us establish our roots in San Francisco.”
