Sony May Sell NYC Tower to Raise Cash

NEW YORK CITY-The tower is worth between $700 million to $1 billion, according to a story this morning in the New York Post.

NEW YORK CITY-Sony is considering the sale of its 37-story US headquarters tower here, according to a story in the New York Post by Claire Atkinson and Lois Weiss. Sources say the building is worth more than $700 million, according to the story.

The 647-foot-tall building was designed by Philip Johnson and partner John Burgee, and is known for its English bookcase-style open top. Telecommunications giant AT&T sold the tower to Sony for $236 million in 2002.
