DETROIT-Three veteran commercial real estate brokers here, Mitchell Lipton, Randy Tarnow and Steve Morris, have joined to open a Detroit-area Mohr Partners Inc. office. The three will concentrate solely on corporate representation.
Tarnow, formerly with Equis, and Morris, formerly with GVA, had worked with Lipton at Friedman Integrated Real Estate Solutions. Tarnow and Morris then had the local Newmark Knight Frank affiliate, with Lipton as a principal, until the New York City-based firm took over Grubb & Ellis, which already had a Detroit office. “We decided as NKF was transitioning to full service, we wanted to stay committed to just the end users,” Tarnow tells GlobeSt.com.
Lipton has been appointed as managing principal of the Mohr office, but will remain on the board at Friedman. Tarnow and Morris are both managing partners. “I see Michigan coming back,” Tarnow says. “However, it will take some time. There’s a tremendous excess of office space in the suburbs, and will stay that way until we have true job growth.”
In a statement, Mohr president Ted Fredericks said Lipton and his team represent the ideal group to lead a Detroit expansion. “The Detroit office adds a significant presence to our footprint in the Great Lakes region,” he said. The firm has 20 US offices
