OAK BROOK, IL-The Hub Group, a transportation management firm, is building a 130,000-square-foot new headquarters complex here at York Road and Clearwater Drive. The company, which received incentives from the city for the project, plans to consolidate employees from the current Downers Grove, IL HQ and other locations, and has promised to occupy the new building for at least five years.

The site at 2000 Clearwater Dr. is that of the former 200,000-square-foot Reed Elsevier building, the parent of LexisNexis, which was the anchor tenant at the site. The company had occupied about 70,000 square feet, but has since consolidated to about half that space at Highland Pointe I in Lombard, IL location.

Morgan/Harbour is the construction manager on the Hub job, and is demolishing the Reed building. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hub HQ is scheduled for Aug. 1, with completion expected by November 2013.

Warren Seil, president of Morgan/Harbour, tells GlobeSt.com that his firm has been fortunate to land jobs such as these as the economy stays slow. “As with most construction firms today, we’re doing a lot of interior work, and mixture of other projects,” he says. “We’re putting together a new hangar at the Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, IL, and doing some industrial projects. We have seen that the architects are busy, working frantically over design tables, so that’s a good sign.”
