NEW YORK CITY-Avison Young, the Canadian-based commercial real estate services company that is aggressively expanding throughout the United States, is continuing to bulk up its new Manhattan office. The firm has poached James Delmonte from Jones Lang LaSalle and Elliot Baum from Colliers International to join its New York City location.
Delmonte, who joins the firm as principal and VP of research, will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Avison Young’s market research in the Tri-State area, including tracking in excess of 500 million square feet within more than 2,000 properties. Baum, who joins as a principal and VP of marketing, will be responsible for directing the firm’s marketing, public relations and branding efforts throughout the Tri-State region.
“The addition of these highly regarded professionals to our team reflects Avison Young’s focus on assembling the first-rate infrastructure needed to deliver exceptional service to our clients,” says Arthur J. Mirante, principal and tri-state president of Avison Young, in a statement. “The extensive expertise and market prowess that James and Elliot bring to Avison Young will undoubtedly serve to foster our Tri-State growth objectives.”
Delmonte, in addition to his former position with JLL, has previously served as director of research for Cushman & Wakefield, where he worked in both the firm’s world headquarters and downtown offices, while Baum, who led the rebranding of GVA Williams to Colliers International and built Colliers’ graphic and marketing department and consulting group, also previously served as creative consultant at Studley.
“I have built my career in real estate providing creative ideas and utilizing my process of design and marketing to develop concepts and strategy in order to create value for companies and to assist in transactions. I look forward to continuing in that role,” Baum says, in a prepared statement. “I am thrilled to be working alongside such an accomplished team of professionals in the Tri-State market, as well as across the company, and am excited to leverage my years of specialized experience to assist Avison Young in elevating its brand awareness and fostering its continued growth.”
Following Mirante’s move from Cushman & Wakefield to lead Avison, the company also recently snatched up eight Grubb & Ellis employees. Over the last three years, the Canadian brokerage firm has grown its network of locations to 30 offices in 27 markets.
