DEERFIELD, IL-Mondelez International Inc., the new snack food company being formed in the Kraft Foods split, has signed to lease 105,000 square feet at Three Parkway Boulevard N. here, a five-story office building. The firm, splitting off completely from the Kraft’s North American grocery business, was named in May with a nod to the Latin words for “delicious world.”

The Kraft grocery business will remain at the company’s current headquarters at Three Lakes Dr. in Northfield, IL. Mondelez will move about 400 employees to the 255,000-square-foot Parkway North property, a Kraft spokesman tells GlobeSt.com. The timing of the company split is not yet known, but the move would follow the split, he says.

The John Buck Co. owns the building here. The office is currently almost full, but anchor tenant Astellas Pharma US Inc. is moving out to fill its new $150 million headquarters complex in Glenview, IL.

During a time when many large suburban firms are moving, or considering moves, to downtown Chicago, the new Mondelez firm decided closeness was more important for its employees, the spokesman says. “We’ve worked for many years here, and we didn’t want a new location to be an inconvenience,” he says. “The new building is only seven miles away.”

There’s a number of other building changes with the company split. Kraft has hired Cushman & Wakefield to sell its One Kraft Court complex in Glenview, the spokesman says. The new Mondelez office will pull in the consolidating offices such as the Beverages unit from Tarrytown, NY and the Planters brand in East Hanover, NJ.
