LONDON-Sentrum has halved its data center portfolio here, selling three facilities here totaling 761,000 square feet for $1.1 billion to San Francisco-based Digital Realty Trust Inc. The properties are in Woking, Watford and Croydon.

Sentrum had owned six facilities throughout London, including in Hayes, Camberley and Rugby. A company spokeswoman did not return a request for comment on the sale of the portfolio, which is 80% leased.

The deal provides Digital with eight data center facilities across the greater London metropolitan area, representing more than 50% of the company’s European portfolio, said CEO Michael Foust in a statement. “The addition of these high-quality, mission-critical facilities to our London portfolio strengthens our position as a leading data center solutions provider in this highly strategic, global market” Foust said. “In addition, the properties include additional inventory for future development that will enable us to meet local and international UK customers’ long term requirements.”

Also, Digital recently completed a partnership with Savvis to acquire a 164,000-square-foot facility in Hong Kong. Savvis is a subsidiary of CenturyLink, based in Monroe, LA. The facility, located at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate in New Territories, will be redeveloped into a data center by mid-2013. Both Digital and Savvis said in a statement that Hong Kong is working at becoming a data center hub for cloud services.
