HARRISBURG, PA-Greenwood Hospitality Group has acquired the Hilton hotel downtown Harrisburg, says Greenwood principal Thomas Conran.

Conran says Greenwood will undertake a multi-million-dollar renovation of the 348-room hotel, which was built in in 1990. Every guestroom and all public spaces will be updated and various additions will be made to the property, he said. “A significant capital outlay will enhance all aspects of the property and position the asset for strong, long-term appreciation,” Conran saYS in a statement.

The Greenwood executive says the Hilton is already an exceptional property with a strong flag, situated in a well-performing market, which is why it fit with his company’s strategic plan for acquisition.

Founded in 2009 by industry veterans Conran, Aik Hong Tan and Bill Zollars, Greenwood is building a portfolio of upscale, full-service and select-service hotels throughout the United States. The company is based in Denver, with offices in Hartford and Houston.

The Harrisburg Hotel is situated two blocks from the State Capital complex in that city, and offers 26,000 square feet of meeting and conference room space, a four-diamond restaurant and casual restaurant and lounge options.

The hotel is connected by an enclosed walkway to the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts and Strawberry Square, a retail and office complex.
